Remediation efforts are required to protect neighboring areas, restore the natural habitat, and to accelerate the process of bringing back the beauty of the native environment. Soil-Tech’s A.C.T. was used by a private homebuilder in the Sommerset development in Reno to protect hillside homes from the danger of mudslides after a fire, and to re-create the natural color of the burnt hill to restore the views for their homebuyers. A.C.T. was mixed with native seed so that natural grasses could provide long-term stability and visual restoration for the area.

Transwestern Pipeline

As the Phoenix Expansion Project completed construction through the highly visual BLM land in Arizona, a main concern was stabilizing and visually mitigating the 150 foot wide scar that stretched for miles along a popular overlook. With Soil-Tech's innovative use of A.C.T., we were able to immediately stabilize the loose soil while simultaneously blending in the disturbance scar. Ultimately, the native seed mix that was blended into the A.C.T. product germinated resulting in a successfully restored pipeline.

LOMPOC

Visual restoration of native areas disturbed by mining activities across the West has become a growing issue as environmental requirements require more stringent preservation of our natural resources. In Lompoc, California, Soil-Tech used A.C.T. to blend in natural colors to the hillside that had been exposed by mining activities. The immediate results of this application eliminated a large visual scar from the viewshed of the town of Lompoc and the entire valley below.

Soil-Tech’s objective with every project is to make the beauty of nature the only visible sign of our work. This often requires making extraordinary efforts to restore the original native habitat after construction, right down to returning the natural color of the undisturbed soil. Soil-Tech has used this focus to create Advanced Coloration Technology (A.C.T.), a natural color application that is applied to construction scars to make them disappear.

A.C.T. is the ultimate application for addressing disturbance to the soil. In addition to restoring natural color to the soil, A.C.T. acts as a dust suppressant and soil stabilizer to prevent erosion caused by the elements, and also easily mixes with seed to facilitate native seed application and germination. A.C.T is derived from naturally occurring gypsum, making the product as environmentally friendly as it is multi-faceted.
